Slate Re-Roofing
We offer two primary methods for slate re-roofing:
- Conventional System: Ideal for roof pitches of 30 degrees and higher, utilizing a triple layer of slate with underlay only on ridges and hips. This method ensures longevity, as the majority of the roof relies solely on the slate’s durability.
- Alumaz (Peterlo) System: Suitable for roof pitches between 17 and 30 degrees, this system incorporates a composite waterproofing membrane between slate layers. Even with broken slates, the underlay prevents leaks. Modern underlays, enhanced with aluminum, offer a lifespan of approximately 60 years.
While we recommend re-roofing existing slate roofs with new slate, we also accommodate clients preferring alternative coverings such as concrete tiles or sheeting. Our meticulous approach ensures no part of your roof remains exposed during the re-roofing process.
